One day the cause and treatment of this disease will be found - this will be done on the awareness and courage shown by Rob, his family, professionals and that will be awesome. I hope the breakthrough will be soon. I include Cath Muir in this too. I saw Rob play- what a great person he was, although I never had the luck to meet with him. I’m no athlete at all… but on my run yesterday thinking of Rob inspired me to carry on. My new Rhinos MND shirt will always be worn with pride, respect.

I loved watching Rob when I grew up in the UK. I’m a massive Leeds fan and met Rob at Jamie Langley’s testimonial and was privileged to watch Rob and the Rhinos (H&A). I was heartbroken when he was diagnosed and inspired by how he dealt with this. I woke up last Monday (3rd June) to the devastating news he has passed. Where do I begin? I saw a news programme which mentioned Rob being diagnosed with MND,& then I saw the smile through the tears, my heart just broke, but bled hope of a cure throughout my veins, for all of you suffering. I became slightly obsessed,in awe of you, your family & friends However your courage has made the small running group Hornsea Harriers run the marathon and some again this year. You broke the rule book, broken many hard peoples hearts with your integrity & true grit. Thank you.

We started coming to Rhinos matches in 2007 and soon became addicted to the Dream team of the era. The following year for her 7th birthday, Antonia was very proud to have No 7 on her shirt as Rob was her favourite player. She had this photo taken at one of the kids camps, it's always been on display at our home. We joke about why he scrunched down for the photos with kids, although we all know his height was his super power! thank you for all the wonderful Rugby League memories Rob RIP #7

I was always proud of the fact that you managed to quieten the disbelievers that you couldn’t play professional rugby because you weren’t the normal height for a rugby player. You showed that you were even better because you could outrun the bigger players. You were my hero because of that. You, the whole of the Burrow family and Sir Kev became bigger heroes the way you all pulled together after your diagnosis.

It was an honour to work with Rob and family in a small way during the last three years, and an even greater honour to spend time with him at home after filming. Despite the inevitability, when the news broke on Sunday, it still felt like it came out of nowhere. And while incredibly sad, I’ll remember him for the force he was; searing away from a flustered set of giants to score another try, or meeting one of the worst diseases imaginable with a smile that says "you've got to catch me first."

Whilst I never met Rob, it would be remised to say that I was not aware of his impact on the world before and after his heartbreaking diagnosis.
